Audi R10 TDI 1986 Lemans and Sebring Winner

The Audi R10 TDI by Minichamps is one awesome looking model in 1/43 scale. This is modeled after an even more awesome race car which staged an upset in the racing world because it is a DIESEL powered vehicle.

Audi certainly put their money where their mouth was in this case so it should come as no surprise that the diesel powered Audi cars are in a class all their own and have shown that driving enthusiasts and diesels could go together.

Here's a special treat for Audi R10 TDI fans. Two promotional videos of the Lemans Car.

MERCEDES BENZ 600 BY AUTOART 1:43 SCALE

Produced from 1964 to 1972, the Mercedes Benz 600 came in several versions with either short wheelbase or long wheelbase versions. Heads of State favored the long wheelbase versions in either the Pullman 4 door or 6 door limousine models.

When I was a little boy, my grandfather had the 250S model which looked similar on the outside but was most certainly, not as luxurious as the 600. Despite this, I remember that the 250 was a really comfortable and powerful ride. To this day I regret not being able to save this car before it was sent off to the junkyard. I would have wanted to restore and keep it as a classic.

This model by Autoart is a short wheelbase one and as such, is designed to be owner driven. What is nice about this model is the attention to detail that went into it including the color of the upholstery and the faces of the gauges.

I gather that this attention to detail is a result of the fact that Autoart has a presence in Germany and can be accessed via http://www.autoartmodels.de/

A nice book about Mclaren cars

Aside from toys, I also love books. In fact, one of my other personas on the internet is the BookWizard :-)

I cannot resist coffee table books that feature awesome cars and having posted my Mclarens in the previous post, I decided to see what book was available about the marque.

Well I ran into one on Amazon and it looks like one awesome book.

Here is the description from the product page on Amazon:

"The McLaren marque has an illustrious history spanning more than six decades at the forefront of both motor racing and road car design. This third edition of McLaren The Cars, first released by award-winning publisher Coterie Press in 2009 is, and it's hard to beleive, an improvement on one of the greatest-ever titles on a single marque, produced by an independent publisher.

This expanded edition of ‘The Cars’ covers every model produced by McLaren between 1964 and 2012. This 320-page,  large format, hard-back book features each and every race car, road car, and even a ‘soapbox’, listed in chronological order from the McLaren M1A in 1964, through to the 2011 MP4-26 Formula One car, as well as the stunning new MP4-12C supercar, which will hit the roads in the hands of the first lucky customers in 2012.

With in-depth text on each car, a foreword by Ron Dennis, chapter introductions by McLaren stars Emerson Fittipaldi, Niki Lauda, Alain Prost, Mika Häkkinen and Lewis Hamilton, as well as a comprehensive appendix section covering race results and specifications, this is far more than just a picture book. Produced with the full co-operation and endorsement of the McLaren Group, it is the definitive history of all the McLaren cars."

Interesting right?

Well in case you want to check it out, click on the link below to see it on Amazon. I am an Amazon affiliate and I get a little something should you decide to purchase the book.

A pair of McLaren F1's in 1:43 scale

The McLaren F1 is one of the cult favorites in the automotive world. A rarity in real life because of the limited production run, it is also hard to find in the die cast model world.

These are two excellent examples of  the McLaren F1 in 1:43 scale.

The yellow McLaren F1 is by Minichamps while the orange McLaren F1 GTR is by Palma.

A last look at my KYOSHO FERARRI 365 GTB4 COMPETIZIONE in 1:18 scale

This is yet another piece that is so hard to part with but such is life....

What makes it more difficult is the fact that the Ferrari 365 GTB4 or the Daytona has always been one of my favorite Ferraris. Someday I will have a 365 in my collection again.

Autoart Alfa Romeo 1750

Recently disposed of an Autoart Alfa Romeo 1750. I loved this model but in the name of streamlining I had to let it go. As my usual practice goes, I took several photos of the model and I want to share them here.

Here is a video from Youtube showing the real car. Pretty awesome

KYOSHO MERCEDES BENZ CLS

My apologies for not being able to post sooner. The Christmas season proved to be more hectic than I thought.

Here is a followup post to my hidden gems: the MERCEDES BENZ CLS by KYOSHO.

This is posted as an item for sale on a local forum and I found it a bit flattering that someone called me to ask, thinking it was a real car :-)
