Siku models from the 80s

Here are some Siku models which I had back in the early 80s.

  1. They are all in very good condition - nice! As an avid Mercedes collector, I must go with the first picture of your SIKU Mercedes model but also interesting are all the rest of them :)

I think the 80' and 90' SIKU toys have a special flair in them - hard to explain, but just looking at them kicks some special emotions...

  2. Thanks Rok! I am sure that you have an awesome collection of Mercedes models by Siku on your site. In fact, I think I'll surf on over to http://www.mercedes-benz-collection.eu/ right now.

    Warmest regards!

  3. Thank you for kind words!
I really hope to get majority of Mercedes SIKU models online in the near future and show them on Mercedes Collection website. I had plenty of luck to collect many Mercedes SIKU models over the years and the collection just keeps getting bigger. You know our hobby, once you are in there is no way back :)

I am keeping my eye on your blog also, nice job!

    Take care,
    Rok

  4. I got my kid a few Siku toy cars when he was a toddler and I would rather recommend getting Hot Wheels or Matchbox... but not because of toxic materials but because of the choking hazard. You see, Siku's in the 1:64 range (that is the same as the HW and MB) have tires that can be taken off. Wrote an article on the subject called Matchbox vs Hot Wheels vs Majorette Toy Cars where I've reviewed a bunch of die casts from a parents perspective, including Siku.

HOWEVER! When it comes to larger models... like the 1:55 range, the Siku has amazing toys for kids. They're really durable and don't break that easily. You can check some of the one's my kid has at Siku Toy Cars. The only problem with them is that they're expensive. They have some great traffic sings I got for my kid which can't be broken and I don't see them harming my kid in any way. I would however avoid the large playsets from the Siku World collection because they do have a LOT of small parts and they're not suited for toddlers.

    p.s.

    I am a Siku lover since I was a child myself :)
